The drill rig for this particular project was brought in on several trucks and assembled on site.

Brownco installed two (2) back-to-back electronic billboards off of the 405 freeway in Carson adjacent to the Goodyear Blimp.

These projects consisted of obtaining the permits, notifying dig alert for underground utilities clearances, erecting the column, pouring the foundation and topping off the sign.

Each foundation was 8’ diameter and 40’ deep. A 10’ x 10’ corrugated metal pipe was installed and filled with slurry to prevent any caving and hold the stability of the soil if groundwater was encountered during drilling; in which, was encountered at 27’ deep in one location and 27.5’ deep in the other.

The drill rig for this particular project was brought in on several trucks and assembled on site. We began by drilling each foundation, installing the rebar cage, setting the column and pouring out the foundation.

After this point the cladding was placed around the column, the head was placed at the top, the electronic signs were installed and the electrical was tied in.

Alongside one of southern California’s most iconic freeways these signs can be seen from the North and South bound lanes. The high visibility nature of this project created some additional challenges but made the project all the more worthwhile in the end.

You can’t miss these signs when traveling through southern California and it brings us joy to build something that is seen by thousands of people daily.
