Clear Channel on the 210

For this freeway sign project, we constructed (2) back to back digital billboards.

They’re sited along the 210 freeway just across from the Miller Brewery in Irwindale.

This project is different from the billboards on the 405 because of the soil’s conditions in this area. The nature of the soil meant that the (2) footings had to be constructed as a spread footing. Both were over-excavated to 32’ in length x 32’ in width x 7’ deep for the footings to be measured 26’ x 26’ x 4’ thick.

Formwork was installed for the perimeter of the footing as well as the grout key. Anchor bolts for the column were furnished and installed in place prior to placing and tying the rebar mats together.

Once the concrete was poured and placed, the site was backfilled and compacted right across the over-excavated area, bringing it up to finished grade level. Bragg Crane supplied the 40 ton crane which lifted the steel column. Brownco assisted with setting the column in place on the anchors that were casted into the concrete.

Cladding was then placed around the column. The billboard head was assembled on ground and lifted in placed and secured to top off the column. Finally, the job was finished with the electrical tie-in.
