Santa Ana Zoo

A project special to Brownco because we were able to make a lasting impression on the local community for generations to come.

Brownco had the unique opportunity to help design, permit and install a 64’ tall Ferris Wheel at the Santa Ana Zoo.

By working hand in hand with the Architect, Engineer, The Friends of the Santa Ana Zoo and the City, Brownco was able to get the plans approved in record time for construction.

The “Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel” sits upon eight (8) 4’ diameter and 18-foot-deep caisson footings.

It has a concrete loading ramp that can load three (3) of the fifteen (15) thatched roof gondolas at one time. It is supported by CMU Electrical enclosure with a thatched roof which houses all the electrical equipment and compressors needed to operate the ride.

This project took an array of equipment to come together including but not limited to truck mounted drilling rigs, reach lifts, several manlifts and multiple cranes.

This ride, along with the carousel and train, help generate revenue to fund new exhibits, programs, facility improvements and the continued conservation of the Zoo’s animals.

Fun Fact: The Santa Ana Zoo has a very large primate collection and must maintain at a minimum Fifty (50) Monkeys on site at all times. This is why the newest attraction was cleverly named the “Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel!”
